John Wayne Fischer, 60, of Columbus, Indiana, passed away Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015.

He was born April 13th, 1955, in Columbus, Indiana, to Alvin Dale and Mary Ann (Mobley) Fischer of Columbus. John was married for 27 years to Jami Snider Fischer. They were married on Dec. 26, 1988, in Columbus and she survives.

John is also survived by his daughter, Hayley Fischer (Gary Smith) of Columbus; brothers, Danny (Tami) Fischer, Pat Fischer and Mark (Jana) Fischer all of Columbus. Several nieces and nephews, who he loved very much, also survive him.

He was a 1973 graduate of Columbus High School. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Church of Columbus, Future Farmers of America and 4H. He was employed by Premier Ag prior to starting his own business, John Fischer Service & Repair, in 1989. Over his 26 years in business, he serviced a countless number of vehicles and was well known for being able to “fix anything”, developing friendships with all of his customers and taking in stray kittens as his “shop pets”. John had a passion for motorcycles and was a faithful owner of a Harley Davidson for most of his life.

A service will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday Dec. 22, 2015, with Father Clem Davis of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th St. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday. Burial will follow in Garland Brook Cemetery.
