Celebrate Recovery gathering New Year’s Eve

Celebrate Recovery is sponsoring a New Year’s gathering as a sober alternative for those in recovery. The event will be 8 p.m. Dec. 31 to 1 a.m. Jan. 1 at Community Church of Columbus, 3850 N. Marr Road.

Pizza, breadsticks and salad will be provided.

Locally and nationally, Celebrate Recovery has won praise from participants for the wisdom and support it provides for people struggling to overcome a variety of harmful habits or hurts, from drugs and alcohol to pornography, overeating and gambling.

Although the group meets at the church, attendees need not attend services there or anywhere. The group attracts a cross-section of people from the community.

California’s Saddleback Church launched Celebrate Recovery with 43 people two decades ago. It was designed to show people the loving power of Jesus through a recovery process, group representatives said.

Celebrate Recovery is now in more 20,000 churches worldwide.
