Centra accepting scholarship applications

Centra Foundation is accepting applications to the 2016-17 Loretta M. Burd Scholarship Program. Ten scholarships each valued at $1,000 will be awarded in South-Central Indiana during May.

Scholarships are open to graduating high school seniors and non-traditional students who plan to attend a two or four year college, university or technical school during the 2016-17 school year. Applicants must be a member of Centra Credit Union with accounts that are in good standing. The scholarship program is named in honor of Loretta Burd, who retired from Centra Credit Union after 47 years of service, including 25 years as chief executive officer.

Centra Foundation offers two scholarship opportunities. Graduating high school seniors are encouraged to apply for the Loretta M. Burd High School Scholarship. Adults or non-traditional students should apply for the Loretta M. Burd Adult Scholarship program.

Scholarship applications will be reviewed on a regional basis with winners selected based on academic achievement, school/community/work involvement and the content of a written essay. Application forms are available on the foundation website, centrafoundation.org.

Application deadline is Feb. 15.
