John Lazzell Jr., 66, of Nashville, passed away at home in Gnaw Bone, surrounded by his loving family on January 4, 2016. He was born in Brown County to the late William H. and Thelma Woodmansee Lazzell on April 26, 1949.
John married Goldie Skaggs on October 11, 1969, at Faith Temple in Columbus, Indiana. He worked for Columbus Sanitation for several years.
He is survived by Goldie, his loving wife of 46 years; five daughters, Peggy Asher, Ava (Farris) Bragg, Misty Reeves, Leesa Bray and Nickie Williams; and one son, Mike Bray. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Robert (Pam) Johnson, Charles Johnson, Nelson Johnson and John M. Lazzell; and sisters, Winnie (Gary) Cave and Betty (Dean) Mullis.
John was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry Johnson, William Johnson and Jim Lazzell; two sisters, Patricia Hamilton and Juanita Bouland; and a stillborn great-grandson.
Visitation for John will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2016, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, 1682 State Rd. 135 North, Nashville, Indiana. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Burkhart Cemetery.
