Police: Teen hauls $3,100 worth of items out of Walmart

Columbus police arrested a city resident after he was accused of pushing a shopping cart full of merchandise out of a local store without paying for the items.

Gage R. Janusch, 19, 2630 Pavia Court, was arrested on a felony theft charge at about 10 a.m. Monday at the Walmart at 735 Whitfield Drive, said Sgt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Store security officers told police that Janusch placed 178 items valued at more than $3,100 in a shopping cart and then tried to leave the store without paying for the merchandise, Harris said.

Janusch was released from the Bartholomew County Jail after posting $7,500 bond, jail officials said.
