Limited damage from NTN fire

A fire near a loading dock at NTN Driveshaft caused minor damage to an overhead heater at the plant.

Columbus firefighters were called to the plant at 8251 S. International Drive at 6:19 p.m. Tuesday and were told that employees had already put out the fire.

Firefighters determined the fire was caused when a gas supply line disconnected from the overhead heating unit, said Capt. Mike Wilson, Columbus Fire Department spokesman.

NTN Driveshaft employees initially used a fire extinguisher on the fire, but put out the fire by turning off the gas supply to the heating unit, Wilson said.

Damage to the heating unit was cosmetic only, Wilson said, and the building was not damaged. No injuries were reported and plant operations continued during the investigation, he said.
