Three Columbus North High School seniors, Chris Clerc, Shae Warnick and Sam McAleese, were named winners of the 2005 National Council of Teachers of English Achievement Awards in Writing Contest. They were among only 11 winners in Indiana.

1991

City Utilities director Phil Smith said the water pumping part of the Columbus wastewater treatment plant south of downtown never was affected by recent flooding and city residents were never in danger of losing water service or having their drinking water contaminated. The worst flooding in the city in 28 years caused only about $1,000 in damage and cost the utilities department less than $3,000 in overtime and other expenses connected to having employees on the job around the clock for three days.

Spiraling building costs and rapid growth in hospital use combined to delay the planned building expansion at Bartholomew County Hospital.
