State notification laws delays rezoning consideration

An annexation request from developers of a proposed west side apartment have been delayed due to state laws which require additional public notifications following a recommendation from the Columbus Plan Commission.

At its regular meeting Wednesday, the plan commission voted to recommend annexation of three parcels of property located at 4570 and 4450 Goeller Blvd. and 4451 W. County Road 25 S.

Hearing on this issue was originally schedule for the Columbus City Council’s regular Feb. 2 meeting, said Jeff Bergman, city-county planning director. However, he said state statutes related to annexation require 20 days between the plan commission issuing a recommendation and hearing by the city council.

In order to meet this requirement, a hearing on the annexation proposal has been moved to the council’s regular Feb. 19 meeting, Bergman said.
