Jill Darlene Powell, 58, of Hope, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at her home.

She co-owned of Brown Bottle in Hartsville and J.P. Electric, Inc. alongside her husband.

Jill enjoyed being with family and friends, and she loved her dogs. She was a kind-hearted person who put others before herself. She was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Jill also loved the socialization that owning the liquor store gave her.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope. Cremation will follow.

Memorial contributions may be donated to the Bartholomew County Humane Society and Wounded Warrior Project through the funeral home.

Born Nov.9, 1957, in Decatur County, Jill was the daughter of Robert and Susan Taylor Owens. She graduated from South Decatur High School in 1976. She married Jim Powell on May 3, 1980, at St. Columba Catholic Church and he survives. They were married for 34 wonderful years. Their love and dedication toward each other is a great example of true love.

Survivors include her husband; son, Brandon Powell of Hope; daughter, Alisha (Cody) Thompson of Hope; granddaughter, Lola Ann Thompson of Hope; brother, Robert “Butch” (Christine) Owens of Dalhart, Texas; sister, Cherri (Jeff) Knox of Madison, Indiana; and nieces, Melea Gault, Kristin Stone and Chelsea and Natalie Owens.

Jill is preceded in death by her parents.
