To receive the designation, a facility must demonstrate experience in offering comprehensive services resulting in better outcomes for patients in a highly efficient manner. Blue Cross Blue Shield offers the designation to provide members of their insurance networks and physicians a credible, easily identifiable means of selecting hospitals for healthcare services.
