Katherine A. “Kathy” Richards, 73, of Columbus, died at 3:25 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Richards was born Aug. 30, 1942, in Columbus to Robert and Geneva Bohannon Foster. She married Ronnie O. Richards June 15, 1967. He preceded her in death Oct. 19, 2010.
She was a homemaker and a former Certified Nursing Assistant. She was a faithful member of Sixth Street General Baptist Church. She cherished her kids and grandkids, and enjoyed embroidering, drinking Pepsi and watching Jimmy Swaggart Ministries and the Young and the Restless. She enjoyed NASCAR and was a fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Kevin Harvick.
Survivors include children, Paul S. (Chelsea) Clear Jr., Tammy J. Clear, Shannon L. (Paul) Richards, Rhonda A. Oliphant and Crystal D. Douglas (Shawn Haley) all of Columbus; a brother, Robert (Mary) Foster of Columbus; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Richards was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Allen Dale Foster; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Revs. Orville Turner, Roger and Kenneth Lee and Pastor Rick Leonard officiating.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
