Columbus Police Department officers completed a week of intensive training, reviewing tactics, learning new trends in law enforcement and preparing to keep the city safe.

1991

After a year of negotiating to acquire a tract of land in Wayne Township for use as a landfill, the Columbus-Bartholomew Solid Waste Disposal Authority felt an agreement on an option to purchase the property was imminent but agreed to move forward with a search for other potential landfill sites.

1966

Raised through the ice of a gravel pit near Azalia, a 1961 Chevrolet stolen from a Columbus man was recovered with the help of local law enforcement officers and divers Cleon Sweeney and Jim McKinney after a group of hunters spotted an oil slick on the surface of the water.
