Unconscious man arrested on charge of heroin possession

A local man was arrested on a charge of heroin possession after a concerned citizen told police he was unconscious in a vehicle at a Columbus gas station.

Seth A. Artis, 24, 2226 Dawnshire Drive, was released from the Bartholomew County Jail after posting $7,500 bond, jail officials said.

Columbus Police Officer Travis Harbaugh was sent to a gas station in the 4000 block of 25th Street at 2:25 a.m. Wednesday to look for the man in the vehicle, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police spokesman.

When Harbaugh found Artis and began speaking with him, Artis said he had fallen asleep and there was no problem, Harris said.

Harbaugh then saw a small bag of heroin in the driver’s door and arrested Artis on a preliminary charge of possession of heroin, Harris said.
