Dorothy Ann Whitley, 94, of Taylor Road, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Four Seasons Health Care Center.
Dorothy was born in Texas June 5, 1921, the daughter of Albert and Bess Blackman Nussmeier. She married Richard Whitley May 23, 1946, in Columbus. He preceded her in death July 29, 2007.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Naomi Circle, several bridge clubs and was an active volunteer. She loved to garden, her flowers and her grandkids and great- grandkids.
She is survived by daughters, Kay (David) Korty of Plainfield, Indiana, and Susan (David) Cala of Indianapolis; daughter-in-law, Cara Whitley of Bloomington; grandchildren, Lana (Ryan) Voss of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, Albert (Angie) Whitley and Frank Whitley, both of Bloomington, Jon Korty of Indianapolis, Annie (Dr. Tyler) Nelson of Dayton, Ohio, Kathy (Lawrence) Denny of Indianapolis and Andy (Elizabeth) Cala of San Antonio, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Clark, Ella, Dax and Jeremiah.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Edward Whitley; and a brother, Robert Nussmeier.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Four Seasons Retirement Center Chapel with the Revs. Phyllis Hawkins and Lisa Cottingham officiating. Calling will be from 1 p.m. until service time Monday at the chapel. Private inurnment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street.
