A North Vernon man was arrested on a felony sexual battery charge after he was accused of inappropriately touching a female patient at a Columbus nursing home.
Benjamin R. Reinert, 34, 6055 W. County Road 500S, North Vernon, was arrested on charges of felony sexual battery, public intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting law enforcement at about 9 p.m. Friday after police were called to the nursing home.
The nursing home staff told police that Reinert was visiting a patient when he became disruptive, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police spokesman.
Nursing home staff members said Reinert was seen urinating outside on the building and threw grass clippings on one of the residents, Harris said. Reinert later touched a female resident inappropriately just before officers arrived, Harris said.
Reinert posted $1,950 in cash bond and was released from the Bartholomew County Jail.
