Patriots pull away from Crusaders

BROWNSBURG — The Columbus Christian boys basketball team missed three layups and committed eight turnovers in the first quarter, yet still trailed Bethesda Christian by only three points.

After that, it got worse for the Crusdaers, however. The IHSAA-member Patriots pulled away for a 58-36 win.

“We had trouble with turnovers and finishing at the rim,” Columbus Christian coach Kevin Roth said. “We’re turning the ball over way too much. Bethesda kept coming with their pressure and half-court trap, and that really hurt us tonight.”

Logan Roth led the Crusaders (19-6) with 11 points.

Panthers rout Warriors

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County led by only two points after one quarter, but pulled away for a 69-43 win against Scottsburg.

Tyler Vogel led the Panthers (6-8) with 22 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and two steals. Kenneth Jones added 11 points and two steals, and Justin Pettit had 10 points.
