Officials called the first day of enforcement of the city’s new smoking ordinance “fairly uneventful,” receiving only two formal complaints, one about a smoker inside a local restaurant and one concerning someone smoking within 10 feet of the Post Office entrance.

1991

First-, second- and third-graders at Taylorsville Elementary School donned buttons and yellow ribbons to record their version of several songs, including an original rap song and “The Saddam Hussein March” as well as personal messages, all to be sent to local soldiers in the Middle East.

Heavy snowfall turned out to be a blessing in disguise, providing needed insulation to keep water lines and city water meters from freezing.
