Jerry Dean Whited, 76, of Elizabethtown, died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at his home.

Jerry was born March 16, 1939, in Casey County, Kentucky, the son of Charlie and Ida Mae Derringer Whited. He married Pearlie D. Dile July 24, 1957, in Casey County, Kentucky.

Jerry was known by everyone as “Mousey” at the Golden Foundry where he was employed for 35 years before retiring in 2000.

He enjoyed gospel and country music, playing the guitar and singing. He loved all of his family devotedly.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Lewis Burton and Brother Randy Denton officiating. Calling will be from 4-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana through the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Pearlie; children, Phillip Dean (Floretta) Whited of Columbus, Timothy (Farriletta) Whited of Hartsville, Vanessa (Charles Jr.) Bryant of Columbus and Tanya D. (Charles “Steve”) Sweet of Columbus; sisters, Jane Lee of Columbus, Pauline Hayes of Ohio, Mabel Allen of Liberty, Kentucky and Ida Lee Woods of Danville, Kentucky; brothers, Homer Whited of Franklin and Harold Whited of Columbus; grandchildren, Melissa Whited, Christina Whited, Falicia Whited, Amanda Bryant, Tyler Dean Downs and Tayler Downs-Scheible; and great-grandchildren, Christale Downs, Izabell Downs, Elizabeth Downs, Rachel Downs, Hope Zink and Faith Zink.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Vera D. Whited; grandson, Charles Bryant III; sisters, Rilda Coppage, Ruby Russell, Nellie Goode, Lorrean Whited and Norma Louise Whited; and brothers, Ira Whited, Sr. and Carl Whited.
