Albert G. “Gerald” Fry, 87, of 27th Street, died at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at Four Seasons Healthcare.

Born March 5, 1928, in Marco, Indiana, he was the son of Elmer and Ola Hardisty Fry. He married Betty Jo Warren March 1, 1952.

Gerald was a veteran of the Air Force, serving in World War II and Korea before retiring as a master sergeant. He was stationed at Bakalar Air Base as an aircraft mechanic. He also worked as a quality assurance inspector for the federal government before retiring in 1983.

Gerald was a member of the Air Force Association and attended Community Church of Columbus.

For 63 years, Gerald was a loving husband to his wife Betty, as well as a devoted dad to his daughter, Dianna, and his son, Jeff.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2016, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Coleman officiating. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors presented by Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Atterbury-Bakalar Air Museum through the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; son, Jeffrey Joe Fry of Indianapolis; daughter, Dianna (Michael) Reedy of Wapakoneta, Ohio; and a half brother, Vernon Mowery of Chesterfield, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James H. White.
