Mayme Opal Baum, 86, of Columbus, died at 4:36 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Mayme was born Feb. 1, 1930, in Jacksonville, Illinois, the daughter of Merle and Emma Mae Ash McAdams. She married Russell Baum July 6, 1947, in Astoria, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 2, 1999.

Over her lifetime, Mayme was a homemaker and raised six children. She had worked as a parts clerk for Rhoades Aviation for many years and was a member of East Columbus Christian Church.

Mayme’s funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Myers-Reed Chapel with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. Calling will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Survivors include her children, Patsy (Bob) Lang, Plainfield, Peggy Fishburn, Indianapolis, Larry (Patty) Baum, Greenwood, Gary (Janice) Baum, Indianapolis, Rodger (Virigilia) Baum and Rhonda (Jonathan) Spurgeon, all of Columbus. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Helen (Richard) Harper of Oklahoma; and a brother, Harold McAdams.

Mayme was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, a great-grandson, a great-great-grandchild and two brothers.

Memorials may be sent in lieu of flowers to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
