Brian’s picks

I’m with my recommending colleague above: Who with anything other than a heart of stone can argue with a dance for a night out this weekend? So I propose Dance Indiana’s Valentine’s Day Ballroom Dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Feb. 13 at The Commons with disc jockey Billy Crase. Admission is $20 per person, which includes appetizers. A cash bar also will be available. Information: 812-376-2681.

I’ve long had an oversized affection for photographer Bob’s Anderson’s oversized, panoramic images. You can see a number of them and the macro and landscape shots of Bloomington photographer Ron Mellott, the paintings of Columbus’ Gail Tatum Plattner and four of her students — Carol Kent, Patti March, Phyllis Booth and Janeo Shannon — at the free exhibit, “Distinctive Visions: The Art of Seeing,” running though April 22 at the Columbus Learning Center, 4555 Central Ave. Information: Bob Anderson at 812-372-0762.
