Charles “CW” Folkening, 91 and a half, of Nashville, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones Feb. 12, 2016, in Bloomington.

CW was born Aug. 19, 1924, in Indianapolis to Walter and Rachael (Paugh) Folkening.

CW was a Construction Building Site Supervisor and Carpenter by trade. He was a Proud Veteran of World War II, serving with the 1305th Service Command Unit of the United State Army. He was a loving member of Duncan Community Church in Brown County. He was a 4H judge for over 30 years covering all of Southern Indiana.

As an avid pigeon fancier and judge, he belonged to many clubs in different states and was honored into the Hall of Fame of Birmingham Rollers Pigeons, a worldwide club.

CW was a mentor and touched many young lives through his work with the 4H. CW also enjoyed horses all of his life. He enjoyed riding as well as driving teams with a stagecoach or wagon.

He loved life as it came and was proud to be “91 and a half” years old. He was a great friend to many and our world was truly blessed to have had him with us.

CW is survived by his loving companion, Andra Smith; a niece, Sharon (Don) Props; a nephew, Joe (Lisa) Folkening; a great‐niece, Julie Abernathey; two great-nephews, Ryan (Kay) Gerber and Hunter Folkening; and two great‐great-nephews, Derek Abernathey and Gage Gerber.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years; Daisy May (Plaster) Folkening; a sister, Mary Jane Wood; a brother, Edward Folkening; and his parents.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, at Bond‐Mitchell Funeral Home with Military Honors and interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greenwood. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday February 16, 2016, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making contributions in the memory of CW to The Brown County 4H, 802 Memorial Drive, Nashville, Indiana 47448 or to Duncan Community Church, 517 W. Upper Schooner Road, Nashville, Indiana 47448.
