Columbus man accused of battery

A local man was arrested after being accused of pointing a gun at his fiancee.

Sean D. Grant, 41, 1012 Eighth St., was arrested on felony charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon, domestic battery in the presence of a minor and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police spokesman.

Columbus police officer Ben Goodin was sent to the Eighth Street address at about 6:50 p.m. Saturday about a fight, Harris said.

When he arrived, Goodin learned that Grant had already left the house. Officers determined Grant was involved in an argument with his fiancee and grabbed her by her hair, Harris said. The victim told police Grant then choked her and pointed a gun at her head, Harris said.

Officers located the gun in the house and secured it, Harris said.

Grant was located nearby by officer Alyson Rech and was arrested, Harris said.

Grant is being held at the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bond, jail officials said.
