Gun training for women set

The Well Armed Woman Southern Indiana Chapter will celebrate its second anniversary at the Sandcreek Conservation Club near Elizabethtown.

The chapter will meet from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, when the education topic will be gun cleaning. Cost to attend is $5.

Those who attend are asked to bring their unloaded gun, unloaded magazine and the instruction manual. Those who don’t have an instruction manual should go to the manufacturer’s website to download one.

Bring cleaning supplies, or buy supplies or a cleaning kit at a local retailer. Those who don’t own a gun will have one provided.

Weather permitting, there will be range time. Hearing and eye protection will be provided. National Rifle Association-certified range safety officers will monitor and assist each woman shooting.

The chapter is a nonprofit organization that organizes local groups of women to meet monthly to practice, learn and grow as shooters. Meetings are open to women age 21 and older, and no children are allowed. Women may visit a meeting as a guest before deciding to join.

Women who plan to attend are asked to RSVP by visiting twawsouthernin.com or on Facebook at facebook.com/twawsouthernin.
