to be princess

The executive director of Main Street of Hope will have some additional duties this May. She has been selected as a 500 Festival princess.

Brittany Young, who graduated from Hauser High School and is a freshman at Ivy Tech Community College in Columbus, is one of 33 princesses who represent and promote the Indy 500 and its festival events. One of the 33 will be chosen 500 Festival queen for 2016.

Each 500 Festival princess receives a $1,000 scholarship, and the queen receives an additional $1,500 scholarship.

The princesses will be involved in statewide community outreach programs, volunteering at 500 Festival events and participating in Indianapolis Motor Speedway events, including prerace ceremonies and the victory celebration for the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 29.
