North Vernon
Jean F. Lawdermilt, 86, of North Vernon passed away at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born, June 12, 1929, in Zenas, Mrs. Lawdermilt was the daughter of Orville and Pauline Morris Garrett. She married Dale R. Lawdermilt on Nov. 15, 1947, in Vernon; he preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 2011.
Mrs. Lawdermilt was a 1947 graduate of Hayden High School. She was a homemaker who worked on the family farm. She enjoyed working on handcrafts, traveling and spending time with her family.
Survivors include daughters, Dalene (Dale) Yates of North Vernon and Debra (Bruce) Batts of Columbus; grandchildren, Mike (April) Yates of Kingwood, West Virginia, Lori Yates of Durham, North Carolina and Joshua Batts of New York City, New York; great-grandchildren, Cara, Rebekah, Elizabeth and John Yates all of Kingwood, West Virginia; and sister in-law, Doris Vinson of Butlerville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Carl and Verne Garrett; and sisters, Frieda Partington and Kathryn Kilker.
Private Services will be held at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Pastor Michael Yates and Bro. Ricky Persons officiating. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Jennings County Council on Domestic Violence.
