St. Bartholomew Catholic School’s eighth-grade boys basketball team won its first CYO state tournament with a 47-41 overtime win against St. Barnabas in Indianapolis. The team, coached by George Estep, had won 24 games in a row.


Three Columbus high school teachers, David Haines and Denise Briner of North and Carol Goshorn of East, were chosen to appear in videos designed by Indiana University to show students and teachers how to do the job right.


James K. Baker, general manager of Arvin Industries’ Arvinyl division, was elected company vice president.
