No injuries reported in car fire

No one was injured when fire engulfed a car that had stopped in a gas station parking lot in Taylorsville.

German Township firefighters said they were called to 11700 N. U.S. 31 at 5:16 p.m. Saturday and found a 2002 two-door Oldsmobile in flames in the parking lot.

The vehicle was leaking fuel, which fed the fire from the back of the car, firefighters said. They used about 2,000 gallons of water to put the fire out.

The driver told firefighters he was driving along U.S. 31 when smoke started coming out from under the car’s dashboard. The driver had owned the car for about three weeks, firefighters said.
