Makeups cut spring break short

Students in the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. missed school three times this winter for weather-related reasons.

With spring break starting Saturday, it’s time to pay those days back.

The original school calendar showed two full weeks for spring break through March 27, with the final week reserved for make-up snow days.

But because of missed days, students will return to the classroom March 23. This shortens the break from 16 days, including weekends, to 11.

Bartholomew County’s other public school district, Flat Rock-Hawcreek, also begins spring break Saturday. It also lost three days of instruction to weather this winter but made up the first two Jan. 18 and Feb. 15.

Students at Hauser Jr.-Sr. High School and Hope Elementary will lose one day of the original spring break schedule, returning on March 25.
