Compost program begins Monday

Columbus Department of Public Works is starting its compost/chipper program beginning Monday.

Compost toters should be set out the same day as a resident’s trash day, by 7 a.m.

The department is requesting that 2 feet be allowed between toters, and grass, leaves, flowers and garden debris go inside the toters.

One armful of brush may go in the trash toter, but nothing wood-related should go into the compost toter. Large piles of brush should be called in to the department for pick up. Toter brand compost toters may be purchased at Lowe’s.

For more information or to call in a large brush pile, call 812-376-2508. More information is available at columbus.in.gov.
