Donald Ray Danforth Sr., 84, of Westport, passed away at 11:08 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2016, at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital.

He was born Jan. 6, 1932, in Beech Grove, the son of Howard Ray and Frances Rhoda (Trackwell) Danforth.

He attended Howell High School and has been a Westport resident the majority of his life. Donald worked as an appliance repair man for Sears for 24 and a half years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in North Vernon. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and helping people. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his daughters, Donna Kay (David) Cathey of Westport, Charlotte Salisbury of St. Joseph, Michigan, and Pamela Sue (Steve) Gauck of Greensburg; sons, Donald Ray Danforth Jr. of Westport and Frank Lyn Danforth of Whiteland; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth Danforth; and a brother, Edwin A. Danforth.

The funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Burial will follow at the Rodney Cemetery with military graveside rites. A time of visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 11 at the funeral home.
