Passenger arrested on charge of meth possession after traffic stop

Bartholomew County sheriff’s deputies arrested a passenger riding in a vehicle driving erratically on North Hackberry Drive after deputies said they found him with drug paraphernalia.

Marty Joe Sutton II, 22, 2211 McKinley Ave., was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and three warrants at about 12:05 a.m. Friday, deputies said.

Deputy Sgt. Kris Weisner stopped the vehicle Sutton was riding in on Hackberry Drive North of Lowell Road, deputies said. Sutton told deputies he didn’t have any identification.

As Sutton left the vehicle, Weisner saw a glass smoking pipe with white residue next to Sutton’s seat, and the pipe later tested positive for methamphetamine, deputies said.

Sutton is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail without bond, jail officials said. The driver was not charged and was released by deputies.
