Charles L. Wheeler, 68, passed away at 1:25 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

He was a member of Seymour First Baptist Church and the American Legion. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, discharged in 1968. He had worked in the press department at Dorel (formerly Cosco) for 12 years. He was involved with prison ministries.

Born May 10, 1947, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Clarence Arthur Wheeler and Rachel Ida (Trowbridge) Wheeler.

Survivors include two daughters, Penny Jo Moore and Shannon Deann Deaton; two brothers, Melvin (Linda) Wheeler and Herbert Wheeler; two sisters, Shirley (Louis) White and Janet (Clayton) Davidson; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert Wheeler and Lawrence “Jack” Wheeler.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home in Brownstown. Family and friends may also call at the funeral home from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, March 18. The funeral will begin at 1 p.m. with Larry Tingle officiating. Burial and military rites will be at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown.
