Hurshel Hurd, 82, of Columbus, passed from this life at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Mr. Hurd was born October 15, 1933, in Clay County, Kentucky, to Harley and Belle Lewis Hurd. He married June Adams on June 15, 1957.

Mr. Hurd was a U.S. Army veteran where he was stationed in Germany during the Korean War era.

Mr. Hurd retired from Arvin Industries after 45 years of service. He was a member of Seymour Community Church and the Bartholomew County Coon Hunters Club. He was a former member of the Eagles Lodge and the American Legion. He enjoyed his family and grand-kids and had a passion for fishing, hunting and bowling and he was a NASCAR fan.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, June; daughters, Debbie (Brett) Lambert and Robin (Max) Bode both of Columbus; seven grandchildren; eight great­-grandchildren; siblings, Eva Shinolt of Columbus, Sally Ray of Seymour, Melvin (Faith Ann) Hurd of Columbus, Florene (Jim) Sylvester of Seymour, Celcia (Jeff) Francisco of Bloomington, Opal (Clint) Baker of Salem, Mary (Steve) Muster of Seymour and Tim (Nadine) Hurd of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hurd was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Connie Sue Everett; grandson, Bradley Everett; great­-grandchildren, Landen Branam and Kadentz and Haven Mills; and siblings, Elmo, Ruby and Oliver Hurd.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Jay Griffie officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 1 p.m. until service time Friday.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
