North, Skinner part ways

After five seasons, Nick Skinner is no longer the head wrestling coach at Columbus North.

North athletics director Jeff Hester said Thursday morning that while he appreciates Skinner’s efforts, the school has opted to move in a different direction.

The search for a replacement has begun, and Hester said he hopes to begin the interview process later this spring.

During Skinner’s tenure, the Bull Dogs’ best finish was during his first year, when the team earned a second-place sectional finish. North was fifth at the sectional meet each of the past two seasons and had one state qualifier this year in sophomore 120-pounder Isaiah Peetz.

Columbus North also is still in the process of searching for a new head swimming and diving coach. Bridger Bell departed after just one season to accept a position in California.
