Gymnast wins all-around

Caleb Shinkle won the Level 6 men’s all-around title last weekend to lead Indiana Gymnastics Center to a third-place finish in the Indiana State Gymnastics Meet.

Shinkle, a 12-year-old Northside Middle School student, also won the vault, high bar and parallel bars. He finished second on the floor and pommel horse and third on the still rings.

Jacob Shinkle, 12, finished sixth in the Level 6 all-around. He took third on the high bar, fourth on the pommel horse and sixth on the still rings and parallel bars.

All five of IGC’s Level 6 gymnasts qualified for the regional, which will be April 17.

Tourney semifinals set

Top-seeded The Rockpile will play fourth-seeded Yoopers, and second-seeded Monsters of Rock will face third-seeded Our Name is Earl in the semifinals April 3.

The Rockpile advanced with a 12-1 rout of No. 8 seed CCA Kutters. Matt Street scored three goals, while Ricky Hooton, Kayla Shine and Tyler Houchin all added two and Stephanie Pigneri and Todd Touchin each had one for The Rockpile. Scott Herron scored for Kutters.

Monsters of Rock edged No. 7 seed Hansons 2-1 behind goals from Cole Newton and Rob Jones. Rahul Bhardwaj scored for Hansons.

Dane Bremer netted three goals, and Ryan Putnam and Dan Stapely each added one in Our Name is Earl’s 5-1 win against No. 6 seed Toyota Tsunamis. Erich Miller scored for Tsunamis.

Ryan Ingalls scored three goals, and Nathan Kent and Thomas Rauznitz each added one in Yoopers’ 5-1 victory against No. 5 seed Flying Zambonis.

Shawn Baughman had all three goals for Zambonis.

Players lead multiple leagues

Clint Million rolled the men’s high game in three separate leagues, and Courtney Barker swept the women’s high game and series in two separate leagues in the past 10 days.

Million notched the men’s high game (257) and series (671) in the Wednesday Night Mixed League. He also posted a pair of 279s to take the men’s high game in the Tuesday Night Men’s League and the Merry Mixers Friday Night League.

Barker recorded the women’s high game (236) and series (654) in the Sunday Night Mixed League and the women’s high game (243) and series (665) in the Merry Mixers Friday Night League.

Doug Henry rolled the men’s high series (751) in the Merry Mixers Friday Night League. Colts Fans had the team high handicap game (1,037), while Burton’s Hydraulics and Columbus Bowling Center tied for the team high handicap series (2,851).

Chris Davis notched the men’s high game (256), and Thomas Wilson had the men’s high series (696) in the Sunday Night Mixed League. Independents had the team high game (911), while Who? had the team high series (2,621) and leads the team standings at 134-74.

Sandra Cool-Richardson posted the women’s high game (196), and Diana Miller had the women’s high series (489) in the Wednesday Night Mixed League. Old Time Flea Market leads the team standings at 158-74.

Rick Wilson Jr. recorded the high series (726) in the Tuesday Night Men’s League. Exception to Rule 3 had the team high game (1,223), and Independents had the team high series (3,488). Enviro-Test and Poynter Chevrolet are tied atop the team standings at 156-76.

In the Senior Men’s League, Rick Crouch and Mike Branigan tied for the high game (247), and Fred Burton had the high series (704).

Wildcats rolled the team high handicap series (2,954), and Falcons lead the team standings at 143-81.
