Ruth E. Grubbs, 86, of Hope, died at 7:27 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor.

Ruth was born April 15, 1929, in Randolph County, the daughter of Russell and Flossie Zook McClellan.

Ruth was a member of the Nazarene denomination over 70 years and served in the Nazarene church ministry as pastor’s wife more than 39 years. She had been employed as an LPN in the emergency room for 29 years at Bethany Hospital, Bethany, Oklahoma. She was also a member of Volunteer Services at Columbus Regional Hospital. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, cooking, entertaining, and southern gospel music.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016, at First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Brian Rogers officiating. Calling will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Columbus First Church of Nazarene Missionary Society or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana through the funeral home.

Survivors include her daughters, Kay (Rick) Shanks of Columbus and Becky (Mark) Lyle of Yukon, Oklahoma; siblings, Oliver (Mary) McClellan of Muncie, Dave (Karol) McClellan of Portland, Indiana and Jeanette (Bob) Sibery of Union City, Indiana; grandchildren, Tim (Jill) Shanks, Jennifer (James) Laymon, Jason Lyle and Katie (Aaron) Harris; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Carolyn Grubbs; and a sister, Marilyn Smith.
