Child Abuse Prevention Month events begin today

Several activities to mark National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April begin today in the Columbus area.

An hour-long event begins at noon in the plaza area between the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. administration building, 1200 Central Ave., and the Doug Otto United Way Center, 1531 13th St.

Following the ceremony, people who attend will be invited to plant a pinwheel around the pond. Each colorful spinner is a promise that local residents are striving to create a community where all families can flourish, and where every boy and girl should be given a healthy, care-free childhood.

Two additional activities are scheduled for next week in the Red Room of the Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 5th St.

Monday: Presentation on discipline vs. punishment, 6:30 p.m.

Thursday: Kids on the Block Puppet Show, 6:30 p.m.
