James B. Renner, 73, of Columbus, passed from this life at 11:43 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2016, at I.U. Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Mr. Renner retired from Edinburgh School Corporation in 1998, where he had worked for 34 years. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and Sons of The American Legion.
A sport and nature enthusiast, Mr. Renner enjoyed all Indiana sports, bird watching and music.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Family and friends may call from noon to time of service.
In keeping with Mr. Renner’s wishes cremation is planned.

Born in Columbus, Oct. 8, 1942, Mr. Renner was the son of James and Norma June Shepherd Renner.
He married Ruth A. Cramer on Dec. 31, 1996.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Christopher J. Renner of Phoenix, Arizona; his daughter, Andria B. Renner of Richmond; brother, Rex A. (Sheila) Renner of Columbus; his dogs, Ottis, Willow and Winston; and his cat, Lucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Phyllis Moore.
