A series of weekend storms ripped concrete poles out of the ground, peeled bricks from buildings, uprooted trees and blew away roofs across Bartholomew, Jackson and Jennings counties.

Columbus Plan Commission approved plans for a new entrance to Columbus Regional Hospital, to run east off Hawcreek Avenue between 17th Street and Lincoln Park, as part of Phase II of the hospital’s renovation and expansion project.

1966

Five Columbus firefighters on a false alarm run escaped injury when their Maxim pumper truck went out of control on wet pavement and demolished a garbage bin at Second and Washington streets.
