Local man arrested on four counts of auto theft

Columbus Police arrested a local man on a warrant issued for four counts of auto theft after he was located next to a vehicle in the 2800 block of 16th Street.

Keith J. Gilbert, 40, 2829 16th St., was arrested on the warrant and on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police spokesman.

Columbus Police Officer Travis Harbaugh saw Gilbert standing next to the vehicle at about 6 p.m. Saturday, Harris said. As Gilbert was arrested, police found a broken glass pipe with a powder residue in his coat, Harris said.

Gilbert is being held in lieu of $62,500 bond in the Bartholomew County Jail, jail officials said.
