Chitty, Johnson chosen for Top 60 workout

Columbus East boys basketball standout Parker Chitty added another postseason honor to his already impressive haul, earning an invite to Hoosier Basketball Magazine’s annual Top 60 workout.

Hauser guard Zach Johnson was also among the five dozen seniors chosen from a group of about 1,600 statewide.

The group will convene this Sunday afternoon at Marian University in Indianapolis. The first two-hour session, which begins at 1 p.m., will feature players from northern and southern Indiana. Central Indiana players will be featured in the second session, which starts at 3:30 p.m.

Chitty, the all-time assists leader at East, was named The Republic’s Player of the Year and was also chosen as a member of the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association’s Senior Supreme 15 team. He will play basketball at Eastern Kentucky next season.

Johnson was a Republic All-Area selection for the Jets, who finished 15-9 this past winter.

East head coach Brent Chitty will be directing both workout sessions.

Both sessions are open to the public for $8 ($5 for students).
