Jenny’s picks

Columbus East student Allison Roberts picked a senior project subject that’s near and dear to my heart: clothing. She is operating a prom dress event during which students can rent an outfit for their magical evening. Roberts doesn’t want anyone held back from going to prom for lack of a dress, so she set up Once Upon a Dress, 1 to 5 p.m. April 9 at the Columbus East High School Auxiliary Gym, 230 S. Marr Road. Roberts has gathered an impressive selection of new and gently used dresses. If attending students find the dress of their dreams, they can pay a $25 rental fee and promise to return the dress the Monday after prom. That fee goes to dry cleaning and storing the dress. For more information, contact Roberts at [email protected]. Dress donation deadline is Friday, but if you don’t make that time, Roberts is taking donations for 2017.

Did I say the Winter Farmers Market was over? Well, it has been extended and will continue through April 16. The market opens 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. inside FairOaks Mall on 25th Street. You’ll find fresh produce, meats and poultry, eggs, breads, pies, cookies, jams, jellies, herbs, honey, specialty soaps, dog biscuits and more. Information: Facebook at Columbus City Farmers Market.
