• Jewell-Rittman Funeral Home for its loving care and professional services for the funeral of my mom, Ruth Grubbs, from Kay Shanks.

• IUPUC students for going out in the community to help the elderly with their yards and homes for the Big Event as all of your hard work was much appreciated.

• Holly Lehman for stepping up and being an awesome district manager and making sure her routes are covered, from Jeremy.

• the military installation for all of its hard work, even during the night and early morning hours, and we thank you for your service, from a proud American citizen.

• Mark Jones for making a commitment to maintain Greenbelt and Par 3 as they are so important to the health and welfare of lower and middle income residents, from a parks lover.

• the two ladies who bought our lunch at Fourth Street Bar, from Ralph and Maurine Jewell.

• Brandon Butler on his article regarding shooting animals in captivity and calling it hunting.

• the Rev. Gordon Tilley for all he has done for his neighbors.

• Holley, the mail lady on Ninth Street, for fixing my nametag on my mailbox.

• The Republic delivery person on Ninth Street for awesome delivery service.

• The Ridge church for an awesome meal on Wednesday night at Love Chapel.

• The Corner Cafe in Hope for its awesome meals, from John Tinkey.

• The Republic deliverer in Hope who does a great job.

• Art Kroot and Kroot Corp. for all their help and generous support of our pop-tab contest to benefit the Ronald McDonald House, from Columbus East and North Key Clubs.

• Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. participating schools and all the students, teachers, parents and other family members who supported our pop-tab collection contest because with your help we recycled 1,386 pounds of pop tabs and will donate $693 to the Ronald McDonald House, from Columbus East and North Key Clubs.

• Jacob Rose for bowling a perfect game of 300 and obtaining a series of 757 on March 25, from family and friends at Columbus Bowling Center.

• Jana and Greg Noel and Connie Wilson for being the best neighbors and for all your help with our kitchen renovation, from the Browns.

• John Foster for his service at White River Broadcasting for 22 years, from John Tinkey.

• the military association that is teaching our young men and women how to protect America.

• Gov. Mike Pence for doing the right thing, from Wilma Jordan.

• all local businesses, churches and agencies for bringing awareness to child abuse prevention.

Onions to …

• The Republic for misidentifying a county elected official’s name on its website under the picture.

• the boss who abandoned his post to go to a restaurant all day.

• The Republic for a column that seemed more like an advertisement for archives.

• the person on Taylor Road who is flying a tattered flag, night and day, that is more than half shredded away.

• those who don’t realize we’d all be so much happier if someone stopped rewording our Onions.

• anybody who doesn’t have anything better to do than camp out a couple nights for a chance of weekly free food.

• anyone who wants to talk bad about the library, as it is a wonderful place.

• those complaining of the military shooting at night because you should be thankful they are ours and not ISIS.

• mean and ungrateful people who come to eat the free meals as those providing the food are doing this out of the goodness of their hearts.

• those who think blessed always is with God as this can also mean fortunate.

• those who complain about the military who are training to keep us safe, as war is not confined to the hours of 8 to 5.

• anyone who would throw out a pet when there are individuals who want them and shelters who would take them as this is a horrible thing to do.
