Letter: Andrews top choice for judge

From: Roger and Priscilla Day

Columbus

On May 3, the people of Bartholomew County will make one of the most important decisions they have made in the last decade. They will cast their votes for a person to succeed the honorable Judge Stephen Heimann in Bartholomew Circuit Court. Heimann has conducted the affairs of this office in a highly professional manner, both in his administration of the law and the efficient and fair manner he and his staff have conducted the affairs of this office. He will leave an extremely high bar for standards of excellence for the person who follows him.

We believe that Scott Andrews is a worthy choice to continue and improve upon those high standards. His education, training and experience, combined with his personal commitment to public service in this county, make him uniquely qualified to serve as Bartholomew Circuit Court judge.

He is a lifelong resident of Bartholomew County. He is a descendant of a family that has farmed several hundred acres of land along the Flat Rock River for decades. His mother, Markel, father, Gary, and his brother, Steve, still live on a piece of that farmland. He graduated from Columbus East High School, where he earned varsity letters in basketball, football and baseball. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue University. He went on to earn his law degree from Seton Hall University in Newark, New Jersey.

After graduation from law school, he clerked for the honorable Judge William Sawyer, the chief U.S. Bankruptcy judge for the Middle District of Alabama. He returned to Bartholomew County, where he served as deputy prosecutor and gained valuable experience from Bill Nash, the chief prosecutor for Bartholomew County.

He entered private practice with the law firm of Rubin and Levine PC in Indianapolis. He was a partner in the law firm of Coriden Coriden Andrews and Glover LLC here in Columbus. He currently owns and practices law from the Andrews Law Office located on Central Avenue.

He has a passion to eradicate the tremendous drug problem that exists in our county. He will be frugal with the taxpayers’ money. He will assure that every person who comes before his court will receive fair and equitable treatment under the law regardless of their social or economic status.

Scott is committed to making Columbus and all of Bartholomew County a better place to live, work and raise a family.

We urge all voters to turn out to vote and cast your vote for Scott Andrews for Circuit Court judge of Bartholomew County on May 3. You will never be sorry you did.
