• the high school girl Thursday at Dairy Queen who stayed to clean up the mess when the rest of the group left.

• W.D. Richards Elementary Student Council for the wonderful staff breakfast on Tuesday, from Richards’ staff.

• Kyle at the Columbus Post Office for being especially helpful on a busy Monday tax day afternoon, from an appreciative woman.

• the couple in the white van Saturday at Walmart who returned my cellphone, from Judy.

• Angie Fischvogt at Verizon for always being so kind and helpful, from the Hills.

• the man from Honda who was passing by and saw me fall on State Road 46 East and stopped to help me get up and made sure I was OK on Monday.

• all those Monday at McDonald’s drive-thru on National Road who paid ahead for the person behind them.

• my aunt Mary McFarlane of Jonesville for the beautiful cross and sea shells from Florida, from Patty.

• Jacki and Dave Pardick for the fantastic reunion, from Ruth Ann Holland.

• Judy and Kenny for the good turkey and dressing as it was very much appreciated, from Hazel and Roger.

• the honest person who returned the money I dropped Saturday evening at Fazoli’s.

• people who work hard for a living to make ends meet and don’t look for handouts.

• the staff at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home for going above and beyond to make sure a family’s needs and wants are taken care of.

• Laura Anderson Herron for being a treasure to the Warfield family.

• the law officers who participated in the DARE event Friday evening at Foundation For Youth as we all had a good time, from Jackson Cheek.

Onions to …

• people paying a consultant who then just tells people to design the road themselves.

• self-centered people who have places to go and who choose to speed instead of properly planning to leave early enough to arrive at their destination in a timely manner.

• the teenager driving the white pickup, now with driver’s-side mirror damage, which hit our vehicle Saturday on South County Road 525E near the park entrance and then fled when he found out we called the cops.

• neighbors who start mowing at 8:30 p.m. when we are trying to get our children to bed.

• whoever thinks drivers should disobey the speed limit just because they have places to go.

• the owner of the restaurant who is rude to her staff.

• those who do not realize that sidewalks are not intended for bicycles but for people who are walking.

• those who are still complaining about the size of the newspaper because you are as bad as the pink paper complainers.

• the operators of a store who won’t get rid of the rude person who is making all the new cashiers quit.

• women carrying huge shoulder bags who can’t control them and hit people without so much as an “excuse me.”

• those responsible for not getting all these dead trees along the roads cleaned up.
