Teen arrested on charge of possession of child pornography and child exploitation

A Batesville man is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail after being arrested on charges of possession of child pornography and child exploitation.

Joseph Francis Freyer, 19, 3013 E. Bischoff Road, Batesville, is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $7,500 bond, jail officials said.

Freyer was arrested after Columbus Police detectives saw child pornography on Freyer’s laptop computer Monday night, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police spokesman. The Columbus Police Department had received a tip that the images were on the computer, Harris said.

Detectives were in the process of obtaining a search warrant for an apartment rented by Freyer in the 2300 block of Poshard Drive. When Freyer arrived at that location, he was taken into custody, Harris said.

Harris said an investigation is continuing by Columbus Police detectives.
