WESTPORT — A Westport man died in an accident at the intersection of State Road 3 and Main Street in Westport.
Richard E. LaFlower, 80, of Westport, died at Decatur County Hospital after the 7:37 a.m. Thursday accident, Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, Indiana State Police spokesman said.
LaFlower was driving a 1992 Buick LeSabre east on Main Street when he attempted to turn north onto State Road 3, said trooper Matthew Holley, who investigated the accident.
LaFlower turned into the path of a 2001 Nissan Altima driven by Michael K. Martin, 42, of North Vernon, and the vehicles collided nearly head-on in the intersection, Wheeles said.
Martin and a 17-year-old passenger were taken to Decatur County Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Wheeles said.
State Road 3 was closed for about an hour after the crash for the investigation.
