Rochester
Charles Steven Herkless, 66, of Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 12:10 a.m. Friday April 22, 2016, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, Indiana.
He was born on Feb. 3, 1950, in Rochester, Indiana, the son of Heber C. and Margaret L. (Pyle) Herkless Jr.
Steve worked as a concrete finisher and mason for many years while living in Jupiter, Florida. He returned to Rochester, Indiana, in 1997 and had worked for Holiday Rambler. He was a member of the Operative Plasterer’s and Cement Mason’s International Association Local 692. He attended the First Baptist Church in Rochester and in his free time he loved fishing, deep sea fishing and horse racing.
Survivors include his mother, Margaret Herkless of Rochester, Indiana; sister, Julia (Dale) Schroeder of Columbus, Indiana; nephews, William Schroeder of Columbus and John (Kristen) Schroeder of Bloomington; great-nieces, Taylor and Bailey Schroeder of Columbus; great‐nephew, Levi Schroeder of Bloomington; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Heber C. Herkless Jr.
Graveside Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday April 26, 2016, at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Rochester, Indiana, with Dr. Mark Spencer officiating. Arrangements are by Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home in Rochester.
