With a $63,000 grant from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department purchased 30 laptop computers to be installed in patrol cars, enabling deputies to do office work on the road and stay on patrol longer.

After Bartholomew County’s attempt to purchase an option on land in Wayne Township ran into fierce opposition from nearby residents, the Solid Waste Disposal Authority voted to enlist the help of a consulting firm in its search for a new landfill site.

King Wrecking Co. of Cincinnati began demolishing the old county jail at Second and Washington streets.
